Analytics and usage data
We use Google Analytics and PostHog to understand product usage, reliability, and download or sign-up conversion. Website analytics may include page views, referrers, UTM parameters, device or browser information, CTA clicks, download clicks, and sign-up or download funnel events.
In the desktop client, if analytics is enabled, we may collect app launch events, daily active usage, screen navigation, feature usage, operation success or failure, error categories, app version, platform, release channel, and performance timing summaries.
Analytics does not collect source text, OCR text, translation results, screenshots, local file paths, window titles, API keys, tokens, license keys, passwords, or raw error stack traces.
PostHog autocapture, session replay, heatmaps, and Web Vitals autocapture are not enabled unless this policy is updated. You can disable analytics in the desktop client settings.
Update and security checks
When the desktop app checks for ordinary updates, it uses updater manifest requests. Separately, the app may check a lightweight update policy about once per hour to identify security fixes, required updates, or blocked automatic update paths.
These policy checks are limited to app version, platform, distribution channel, and track. They do not include device ID, account data, extension list, translation history, OCR content, screenshots, or local files.
Local content
Local translation history, favorites, OCR images, screenshot contents, and local settings are not collected as part of payment review or license activation.
If you choose to send logs, screenshots, or files to support, we use them only to handle the support request.
Retention and tracking
Payment and license records are retained for as long as needed for business operations, refunds, compliance, fraud prevention, and dispute handling.
Machine hashes are used for license activation and device slot management. They are not used for advertising or cross-product tracking.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, object to, or restrict certain personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing depends on consent.
You can contact [email protected] to make a privacy request. We may need information that verifies the account or purchase record before acting on the request.
International processing
Service providers may process and store data in countries other than where you live. Where required, safeguards are used for international transfers.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect account, license, payment, support, and diagnostic data.
No online service or local software environment is perfectly secure. Keep your account credentials, devices, provider API keys, and local files protected.
Children
Float Translate is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in their location. Contact [email protected] if you believe a child provided personal data.
Privacy policy changes
This policy may be updated as the product, data handling, providers, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted here with the effective date.
