What is the difference between Free and Pro?
Free includes unlimited translations, the default translation service, and BYOK. Upgrade to Pro and translate with fewer steps. See the full comparison on the Pricing page.
Is Pro a one-time purchase?
Yes. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a monthly or annual subscription. See the current offer on the Pricing page.
Does AI translation require an API key?
When you use API services such as OpenAI or Claude, add your own API key in Services. You can also use an Agent such as Codex or Claude Code without entering an API key in the app.
Which languages are supported?
The app interface currently supports English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Translation is not limited to these 5 languages: if an enabled translation service supports a language, you can use it for translation; the exact range varies by service.
Which desktop platforms are currently available?
Windows is available now. macOS is in private beta; join the community on the Download page to participate.
What is Float Translate, and who is it for?
A desktop app for translation, OCR, and instant text actions. It is for anyone who wants to translate text, look up words, extract on-screen text, or run other text actions without switching apps—for example, while reading foreign-language content, understanding text in games or images, or communicating across languages.
Can I translate screen text that cannot be selected or copied?
Yes. Cursor Lookup can capture the word or sentence under the pointer—even in images or games—and use it for translation or dictionary lookup.
Which translation and AI services are supported?
It currently supports 35+ translation services, including Google, DeepL, Bing, Youdao, and supported AI providers.
What stays on my device, and what is sent to connected services?
Translation history, favorites, saved OCR images, screenshot content, and local settings stay on your device by default. When you use translation, AI, cloud OCR, or another connected service, the text, image, or other input needed for that action is sent to the provider you choose. On-device features process the input locally. If you send logs, screenshots, or files to support, they are used only to handle your request. Connected providers process submitted content under their own privacy policies.
